Teaching approach

My teaching combines methodological rigour, economic interpretation and an applied perspective. The aim is for students not only to apply statistical techniques, but also to select appropriate methods, justify their use and interpret results in real contexts.

Teaching materials

Materials are organised by subject and academic year, following a progressive structure aimed at learning statistics applied to economics and business.

Methodology

Teaching is structured around problem-solving in real economic contexts. Students are expected to identify the appropriate statistical procedure, justify their choice and draw conclusions with economic interpretation.

Real data and plausible situations from economics and business are incorporated, together with the use of statistical software in advanced courses.

Responsible use of artificial intelligence tools is also encouraged as support for learning, particularly as a programming assistant in R and Python and as an aid to consolidate statistical reasoning. Its use is contextualised in the classroom to reinforce student autonomy without replacing students’ own analysis or interpretation of results.

Teaching record and quality

My teaching activity shows a positive and sustained evolution in teaching quality evaluations, with consolidation in core statistics subjects.

I have received positive institutional evaluation through the DOCENTIA programme at Rey Juan Carlos University: two recognised periods, with a favourable rating in 2019 and a very good rating in 2023.

Evolution of teaching evaluations

The following figure summarises the evolution of ratings [0–5 scale] obtained in student teaching quality surveys since my incorporation into Rey Juan Carlos University.

Supervision of undergraduate dissertations

The following figure shows the number of undergraduate dissertations supervised by academic year and the average grade obtained by students in those dissertations.

Teaching innovation

I have participated in educational innovation initiatives aimed at improving statistics teaching in digital environments. One teaching experience was recognised with the “Bank of Good Practices” mention in the Teaching Innovation Awards of Rey Juan Carlos University.

I am also a member of the consolidated URJC Teaching Innovation Group EXPERIMENTA, focused on active teaching and learning methodologies.
